Putin and Kobe at the Beijing Olympics

Besides team China and President Hu Jintao, I think Vladimir Putin and Kobe Bryant got the loudest cheer from the audience at yesterday’s opening ceremony. What a great illustration of China’s past and present. (the crowds went out for North Korea too)

Jenny,
Has there been any reaction among the spectators in Beijing to the conflict in Georgia? I wasn’t aware the Putin was popular among the Chinese.

The reaction to the conflict is slight shock but not widely felt. One thing though is many people instinctively side with Russia regarding the issue.
